The Facts
We are a long established Club, playing in Twyford C of E School sports hall on 4 courts. We are very well located for public transport, being close to both Acton Town and Ealing Common tube stations, close to the London Overground stop at Acton Central, and also being on the bus routes on the Uxbridge Road-207, 607, 427, E3 and 440. Additionally there is plenty of car and bike parking in the school grounds.
We play Club night every Tuesday 8:00PM-10:00PM through out the year, more competitively during the winter when we are practising for matches, and less so in the summer season. We always play with quality feather shuttles.
The hall is quite new with high ceilings, good lighting and plenty of changing facilities
Club night address
Twyford Church of England School Sports Hall, Twyford Crescent, Acton, London W3 9PP (entrance is directly off the Uxbridge Rd) Most weeks we go to the local pub (Red Lion and Pineapple) after 10pm for a chat about current matters of interest - alcohol optional - ! We have a number of social events during the year, usually including a summer barbeque, Christmas dinner and a few local bowling / dinner out evenings
Leagues and matches
We try to give all members the opportunity to play in matches (at your correct level) in the local leagues, and so have teams (Mens, Mixed, Ladies) in the Middlesex and Hammersmith Badminton Leagues. We play most of our home matches at Hounslow Badminton Centre (the Dome), which is a purpose built badminton facility near Norwood Green.
Visitors and new members
All Welcome - good high standard games. Prior to attending our club nights as a guest please ensure that you have emailed us, in advance and received a response: fjdiacon@gmail.com. Guests are allowed to club nights on Tuesday evenings ONLY if confirmed with a member of the committee in advance. Initially guests are allowed to attend three sessions, please note you will be asked to pay a £7 Guest Fee (per session). Fees should be paid to the Treasurer at the beginning of the evening. After the initial 3 sessions, if you and the club feel that we are compatible you will be invited to join. You will be required to fill in the required membership form which will also affiliate you with Badminton England. Membership will always work out less than the Guest Fee and covers the cost of the Tuesday night session for the rest of the season (until the end of April for the winter)
Note: Guests who do not notify us in advance may be turned away, particularly if you visit us during especially busy club nights. We have around 24 members in the Club, but always welcome visitors. Our members live all over West London - Hammersmith, Hampstead, Ealing, Hounslow, Queensway, as well as Acton. We also have members from all over Europe, as well as much further away. We are particularly looking for strong club standard men for our recently promoted mens team or for ladies, for both ladies and mixed teams, but enthusiastic players keen to improve are always welcome. Unfortunately we can’t take absolute or near beginners.
